Hale means to be strong and robust. Whilst it is used in conjunction with a persons state of health we thought it was the perfect word to associate with our linens. Linen is strong and natural. It is a wonderful textile to use on the body and in the home to advocate a sense of good natural living that just happens to be loaded with aesthetic and tactile charm. Mercantile obviously refers to business and our business is to trade beautiful linens and associated products for everyday living. And we love it!!

All of our linens are made in Europe. Flax is the primary product from which linen is made and ours is sourced from France. The manufacturing process from yarn spinning and dying to weaving and sewing all takes place in Europe.

Although we use French flax to make our yarns, flax is not linen. It is the primary source of linen but is cultivated for many other uses. Our actual yarn is not only made from French flax it is spun and dyed by master European craftsmen to ensure textural quality, durability and colour integrity of our woven products. Our linen is designed to be completely easy care. Each piece is prewashed and shrunk to ensure, that with proper care, a simple wash and tumble dry is all that is needed. Our linens are best worn with a relaxed, natural appeal.

Care

Yes. We recommend tumble drying on a low-medium heat to maintain the linens shape and soft textural appeal.

If the proper care instructions are followed, our linens will not shrink.

Yes, you can iron your linen. We do not recommend it though. HMCo linen has been designed to be relaxed and textured in appearance.

Please refer to the throw care instructions. If you have any concerns about minor lint this will be eliminated through the washing and drying process recommended. Any minor shedding will disappear after the first couple of washes.

We recommend using a mild liquid detergent such as wool mix.

Shipping & Returns

We currently ship to New Zealand, Asia, USA, the United Kingdom and Europe.

International orders will be sent via a registered TNT or DHL couriers and will require a signature. A tracking number will be provided with which you can track the progress of your shipment using the following link www.tnt.com or www.dhl.com.au. Allow Up to 14 business days for delivery.

Please note that in accordance with Australian export regulations, we are required to declare the exact value of all items and identify the order as dutiable "merchandise". We are also prohibited by law from identifying an order as a "gift" for export purposes, even if a customer has placed the order with the intention of delivery to a gift recipient.

COVID-19 UPDATE - some of our partner couriers are experiencing increased shipping delays due to the increased demand and restricted services around the globe. We do our best to monitor tracking of these parcels but cannot be held accountable for any delays incurred due to the current global pandemic.

Orders are processed Monday through Friday and are shipped within 48 hours of placement, excluding weekends and public holidays.

Depending on your selected shipping rate, deliveries can take up to 14 business days after processing.

We accept Visa, Mastercard and PayPal. When selecting to pay with PayPal, you will be redirected to the PayPal website to login and review the order before clicking 'Pay Now'. Once this transaction is complete, you will then return to www.halemercantileco.com. Please note payment is only debited from your card at the time of dispatch.

Please email info@halemercantileco.com should you find a colour or size you are interested in is being displayed as unavailable on our website. We will be able to advise if the item is available for pre-order and will advise an estimate on delivery.
